How to increase Minecraft RAM?
Start the Minecraft launcher & go to the installation tab. Click on the three dots next to your version & select „Edit”. Go to “More options“ and find “JVM Arguments” in the Java settings. Change the command “-Xmx2G” to “-Xmx[desired amount of RAM in gigabytes]G”.
Minecraft typically runs best with at least 2GB of RAM, but for a more seamless experience, 4GB or even more is ideal. As mentioned before, the exact RAM you'll need depends on things like the world size, the number of players, and any mods or custom content you're using.
Is 64gb RAM enough for gaming? Absolutely; 8GB is still enough for many games, and 16 covers basically everyone. The only people who realistically need more than 16GB are professional content creators working with huge images and high-resolution video.
So, from this, while it doesn't increase FPS, more ram means the game can keep those same framerate, at better stability. This is, at least, what I found. Note that I was using 2GB for Badlion and my PC has a maximum of 4GB.
if you didn't already know, to allocate more ram you need to go to the launcher, installations, edit, advanced options and there's a bit of code or something and you want to change the number 2, to how many rams u want to allocate.
32GB of RAM can be considered overkill for gaming alone, but it can help run other resource-intensive programs alongside your games or for high-end PC gaming.
16GB system RAM is just enough for an entry-level Minecraft streaming PC, as long as you also have a decent graphics card with at least 4GB (ideally more) VRAM.
Is 64/128 GB of RAM Overkill? For the majority of users, it is. If you plan on building a PC purely for gaming and some general, basic, everyday activity, 64 GB of RAM is just too much. The amount of RAM you need will ultimately depend on your workload.
How overkill is 128GB RAM? For gaming purposes, 128 GB of RAM would be considered overkill. Even the most modern and demanding games do not require more than 16 GB of RAM. While it is true that having excess RAM will not harm the system, it will add to the cost of the system without providing any significant benefits.
If you're playing Minecraft without mods, 3GB should be plenty. If you're using mods, you should probably allocate 4–5GB and close other programs: you're going to end up using most of your physical RAM and you want to avoid Minecraft using virtual memory.
Why is Minecraft so laggy?
Common Reasons for Experiencing Lag
An excessive number of players and insufficient RAM. Multiple applications without enough RAM. You are located in a region that's far away from the Minecraft server. Numerous worlds are running on your server without enough RAM.
- Decrease resolution. Resolution determines the number of pixels the game is rendered in. ...
- Reduce render distance. To raise FPS, set the render distance slider between low and medium. ...
- Turn off Vsync. ...
- Turn on fullscreen mode.
Sometimes when playing Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, you may experience a low FPS (frames per second) or frame rate. This may be due to applications running in the background or simply not having enough processing power to run the game smoothly at your current settings.
Open the launcher: Edit > More Options on your install to adjust RAM settings. Change the existing Xmx2G to a different value, such as Xmx4G, to change allocated RAM. There is no way to allocate more RAM to Bedrock.
However, for 150+ Minecraft mods, we recommend dedicating around 8GB to Minecraft 1.19. 2. Remember though. Never add more than half of your total RAM to Minecraft.
Here are some recommendations for how much RAM to allocate to Minecraft based on your computer's specs: 16GB of RAM or more: 4-8GB. 8GB of RAM: 2-4GB. 4GB of RAM: 1-2GB.
Minecraft is CPU and RAM intensive.
You only need a recent low-end GPU to run it, but large worlds and heavy modding will take their toll on the CPU, due to how Java works. RAM is usually best left at -Xmx4G for the vanilla version, while also leaving Windows/Linux with at least the obligatory minimum of 4GB left.
32GB of RAM may sound like a lot, but having a surplus of available capacity can make a huge difference in performance and proves why so many gaming enthusiasts spend more money to add 32GB, 48GB, or even 64GB to their systems. The latest game releases are already starting to recommend a minimum 16GB of RAM.

Unlike most games, Minecraft is more dependent on your CPU than your GPU. That means that the power of your CPU has a greatest impact on your computer's performance, and your CPU will often be the component limiting your FPS.
Is 16GB RAM high end?
16GB of RAM is the amount of memory we recommend for intermediate users looking for extra speed and smooth functioning. This may be especially beneficial if you tend to have several programs open and running, simultaneously. This is also a good level of RAM for casual gamers and standard business professionals.
The speed and capacity of your PC's system memory or RAM can significantly affect your computer's startup speed. Nevertheless, adding more RAM will only be helpful up to a certain point. Adding too much RAM will eventually jeopardize the computer's performance, even when you have enough of it.
Increased performance: With 32GB of RAM, your device can handle more data and processes at once, resulting in faster performance and less lag. Better multitasking: With more RAM, you can run multiple programs and applications simultaneously without experiencing any slowdown.
Although it won't have as profound an effect as upgrading the processor or graphics card, faster RAM can improve game performance and frame rates. Performance improvements vary from game to game: some see a noticeable boost, while others are barely impacted.
Everyone has different uses for a computer and different needs or requirements. Multi-tasking or high level computations / deep learning would require more ram than a computer used for internet browsing / email only. Do you need 1TB of ram? If the answer is no, then it is overkill.
